Born and raised in southern California, choreographer, teacher, and performer Carla Araneda is a graduate from Cornish College of the Arts, and holds a B.F.A. in Dance and Choreography.
Carla’s training began in Riverside, CA and she obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts in Seattle, WA. She has also traveled to North Carolina to attend the American Dance Festival at Duke University. She is now working in Southern California as a competitive dance instructor, choreographer, and coach.
Carla’s choreography has been performed for student showcases at Cornish College of the Arts and also for Riverside Community College’s dance department. She has taught dance at several studios in the southern California and Seattle areas. Her experience ranges from ages 2-Adult in various dance styles including Hip Hop, Jazz, Ballet, Modern, Lyrical, and Contemporary.
Carla has been awarded several performance and choreography awards including, “Creative Concept,” “Mesmerizing Experience,” “Inspirational Dancer,” and “Showstopper.” She has also extended her education through community based art, and choreographed for a Veteran’s Arts project. She wants to use her artistic vision for social change, and protest. Carla’s recent works have been focused for the competition dance stage, and have demonstrated to be award winning in double platinum awards, overall scoring categories and some have remained undefeated! Carla strives to create choreography that stands out and it is a goal of hers to impact the competition world with dances that reflect intellectual and artistic dance. Her choreography has recently won the highest score award and her dancers have been invited to New Jersey to perform alongside other top scoring dances in a week long World’s Dance Down.
Her goal as a dance instructor is to utilize the tools she has learned from the places she has traveled, and the education she has obtained to instruct young dancers on the artistic side of dance, and also to enthrall knowledge of injury prevention and the positive effects dance has on the human body, mind, and soul
